General Principals of Happiness

Happiness is a complex system and needs to be considered from several viewpoints.

These include:-

1. Point effect happiness.

This is the feeling of happiness in the moment or opposite. Defined her as Joy or Despair.
There are various ways one can purposefully manufacture both these point effect emotions.

For Joy, apart from using the somewhat obvious Do What You Enjoy process you can also use:-

Enjoy What You Do where you find fun in all activities and experience Joy in that fun and even in the success of doing so.
Child of Wonder where you fabricate a child like wonder at the world and everything in it and the Joy this brings.
Love All similar to the Child of Wonder, where you enhance the love you feel for others and feel Joy at the imagined or real feedback.
Upward Spiral Empathy Path an extension of the Love All method but more specific to more refined target.
Alternative Reality where you get Joy in an alternative reality, a game for example designed to give its players Joy, or a book, film etc or world of your own creation.
Chemically Introduced Mind States which is often a shortcut to moments of fleeting Joy.


For Despair, there are also processes that can be used if your a masochist or want to reinforce your Invulnerability level see Invulnerability Theory these include:-

Downward Spiral Empathy Path, opposite of the upward version, that could be extended to Hate All though obviously not recommended.
Everything is wrong, a critical assessment of ones life designed to engender despair.
Look into the abyss, a dangerous process of nihilistic analysis of the purposes of life.

The above techniques are those that can be enacted within 'The Me' there are others that can be enacted in the 'Not Me' i.e. with other people that can be even more effective including.

Emotional Resource Transactions, 'a joy shared is doubled, a despair shared is halved'.
Positive Bias Reinforcement, where another reinforces your position and thus validates it, unfortunately this applies both for desirable Meta Morality bias as well ss the not so desirable bias.

If you manage these point effect emotions you can mitigate their impact on the next level, but most people can not and thus they 'integrate' to set the base level of happiness, i.e. continual moments of Joy feed/top up the base level see Happiness Engine.

This is why it is probably important to ensure our children have many moments of Joy.

Notes :
Joy in this context covers many positive point emotions including satisfaction, love, wonder etc.
Despair in this context covers many negative point experienced emotions including fear, hate, hopelessness etc..

2. Base Level of Happiness.

This is the general measure of someone's base happiness or satisfaction in life, the rest state when not experiencing point effect emotions. It is the state that people generally relate to when you ask them are you happy?

Base happiness can be managed with the right set of skills and personal awareness although this depends on the Level of Awareness people have and for levels 0 and 1 generally only point effect happiness can modify this base level.

Management techniques for those aware include Micro Purposing, Applied Watching and Happiness Audits

The opposite of happiness at this level is of course Sadness

3. Happiness Reserves.

Happiness reserves or the wellbeing bank is basically a reserve of resources based on memories or happier times and a belief in the nature of the universe and your place in it. These reserves can be called upon (and unfortunately consumed) in times of challenge and hardship. The reserves are built up from the base level of happiness over time and point effects and can be see as an integration of the base level of happiness.

If you are loved as child or adult and that love is manifestly expressed and known this can build up your reserves. Reserves contribute to your feeling of self worth, optimism and 'faith' in the world.

Tools to manage your reserves over short time periods are hard to use an if your reserves are very low such things as Faith harvesting and Fake it before you make it would be needed even Core Personality Restructure using the simulate and deploy methodology.

4. Happiness with current Life.

It is possible to have good (or bad) stats in these areas but still be unhappy with aspects of your current life situation or in summary of all factors your overall life. This factors can be divided into two sub areas:-

4.1 Happiness with the Not Me

4.2 Happiness with the Me.

5. Happiness with Delta change requirement to increase happiness with current life situation.
