Pounds Per Pleasure is a practical method of assessing whether an individual is and how that individual can expend other resources in order most effectively convert them into hapiness.
It depends on a number of key assumptions :-
- That Joy is a delta of Happiness, eg. That lots of small events of joy can 'integrate' into an increase of happiness or h = ʃ f(j)dj where the interval is [0,t].
Pidgeon mathematics aside it basically means if you experience several instances of joy your base happiness will increase, a counter effect if you experience several instances of despair your sadness will increase which will neutralise your happiness.
